What does laser hair removal consist of?

Laser hair removal in Turkey allows you to remove hair from any part of the body and face, the laser destroys the hair follicle and hair shaft by targeting hair melanin.

The darker and thicker it is, the more effective it will be, for this purpose, the laser heats the brown or black pigment present on the (light) skin and destroys the hair at high temperature.

Body hair removal takes several sessions, generally between 5 and 8 sessions, sometimes more, depending on the person.

Hair goes through 3 phases throughout its growth, therefore, it is very important to treat all these phases with a laser, which last for several months (even years), so, laser hair removal cannot remove all the hair at once.

Does laser hair removal work for all skin types?

Laser hair removal in Turkey can be done on any skin type, you just need to choose the right devices.

However, special care should be taken with tanned skin as this increases the risk of burns or discoloration. It is therefore not recommended to expose yourself to the sun or use a suspended automatic bronzer during the process.

Depending on your skin phototype and the color of your hair, the hair removal specialist will use different types of laser with specific wavelengths. Here are some examples :

For light skin phototype 1 to 4 and if your skin is not tanned, your hair removal will be done with an Alexandrite Laser which has a wavelength of 755 nm.

For dark phototype skin (4 to 6) or tanned skin, the specialist will favor the Nd-YAG laser at wavelength 1064.

What are the different types of hair removal lasers in Turkey?

Hair removal lasers can be divided into two categories:

Thermal lasers:

The hair removal laser emits a very powerful flash of light focused on a small area of the skin. The dark pigment of the hair (melanin) absorbs this light energy and converts it into heat, as a result, the hair follicle burns and the hair does not grow back. This is why lasers do not remove blonde hair.

The same principle allows the use of pulsed light (or flash lamp) for lasting hair removal. The surrounding skin is more transparent, absorbs less heat and therefore remains intact.

Photomechanical effect lasers:

In this case, the laser emits a light beam of a specific wavelength that resonates with the pigment in the hair. This strong vibration will ruin the hair follicle and prevent hair regrowth.

Which body parts are affected by hair removal?

The classic hair removal areas are the body and face.

For women, these are: legs, armpits, bikini line, etc. These areas give very good results. In humans, the parts concerned are: the torso, the back, the beard, etc.

On the other hand, the laser does not work well on hairs on arms, legs, ears and nose. Hair removal does not involve between the eyebrows too close to the eyes.

How does a laser hair removal session take place?

Before any treatment, the laser hair removal specialist begins by examining the patient to ensure that he is compatible with laser hair removal (hairs must be dark) and to select the device and its settings accordingly, of skin color. The laser operator will also set a fixed price for the patient.

After the first consultation, the patient can start the hair removal session if the area to be treated is well shaved (except for fluff on the face) and clean.

The day before the session, it is imperative to shave your hair, because a laser treatment can burn the skin. The laser operator and patient should wear safety glasses to avoid eye contact with the laser beams.

A laser shot lasting 5 milliseconds is directed with a jet of cold air to reduce laser sharpness. For greater patient comfort, anesthetic cream can be applied to the most sensitive areas.

After the session, the laser technician applies a soothing and revitalizing cream to the shaved area. The next hair removal session will be scheduled at least 1 month later.

During the sessions, the hairs become finer, lighter, lengthen and gradually disappear, giving the skin a softer and smoother appearance. After a few years, 1-2 touch-up sessions can be done, as sometimes several individual hairs grow back.

The laser also works on hairs under the skin (ingrown hairs).

What results do you get with laser hair removal?

The results of laser hair removal in Turkey are obvious. In fact, the hair does not grow back for 4 weeks from the first session. Furthermore, you must wait for the hair cycle to evaluate the real results of the treatment.
