Calf augmentation in Turkey: principle and definition
Calf augmentation in Turkey is a surgical operation which consists in giving shape to calves that are too thin and therefore makes it possible to find harmony between the volumes and profiles of the thigh and the knee in several Turkish cities such as Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara, Antalya or Bursa.
Several techniques are possible to increase the relief of the internal and external muscles.
One can resort to a pause of implants or to an injection of fat (lipofilling). A combination of the two methods is also possible.
Calf surgery in Turkey is for those who want to increase the volume of the calves, and who cannot do so through sports practice.

How a calf augmentation session works?
By implant:
The calf prosthesis increases the relief of the twin muscles and thanks to this, gives more curves to the calf.
The patient has the choice between several shapes and lengths of prostheses.
The surgical procedure lasts between 45 minutes and 1 hour and is performed under general or loco-regional anesthesia with an overnight stay in hospital.
To implant the prostheses, the patient is positioned on their stomach, and the surgeon makes an incision of about 4cm in the back fold of the knee, then the doctor positions the implants in the muscle compartment.
By lipofilling:
Lipofilling is a natural calf augmentation technique in Turkey, which involves injecting the patient’s own fat into the calf from 1-2mm incisions.
To do this, the surgeon removes fatty tissue from an area of the body by liposuction using a fine cannula, the fat is then centrifuged and reinjected into the posterior compartment of the leg either at the level of the lower 1/3 (part not filled by the implant) or in the entire height of the calf.
Nevertheless, it is necessary to have a sufficient stock of fat for the intervention to be possible and to provide the desired results.
What happens after the calf augmentation surgery?
After the operation some edema and bruising may be noticeable for a period between one to three weeks, the doctor will give you the necessary medication and painkillers to deal with the discomfort.
The pain is moderate and gradually fades after a week or two.
Residual edema resolves in six weeks.
A modeling bandage is applied to each leg to ensure the proper maintenance of the calf prostheses.
Simple analgesics and anticoagulant treatment are prescribed.
The application of a silicone strip for two months helps good healing.
It is recommended to reduce activities and limit movement during the first week.
What are the result of calf augmentation?
The result is immediate, it is however definitive between 3 to 6 months, after complete resorption of the oedema.
The scar left behind gradually dissipates, until it almost disappears, in 5 or 6 months after the surgery of the silhouette.
It is necessary to carry out checks in order to monitor the tolerance of calf prostheses.
For lipofilling, the result is only visible after the resorption of the oedema. The final result is appreciated after 4 to 6 months.
