What are the different types of peeling?

Peeling uses the skin’s natural reaction to external aggressions. The skin tends to shrink and become firm to heal. A peel is by definition abrasive.

It can be superficial or deep, it is this characteristic that distinguishes the different types of peeling in.

The gentle peeling:

Like a sunburn, the gentle peeling is an action on the surface of the skin, we then speak of the stratum corneum, for this treatment, the practitioner uses a dilute acid (low concentration) or in small doses.

The concept is to apply glycolic acid (or other fruit acids) and increase the doses, each time, the objective of which is to break the intracellular bonds at the level of the stratum corneum.

The result is limited desquamation is controlled, the effect on the skin is an unobtrusive, gentle and light exfoliation, the patient then has a new skin.

The gentle peel in uses a plant-based chemical compound, the technique consists of a daily treatment with an ointment prescribed by the doctor, then a session in the office, this gentle scrub is called in the United States, the “lunch break” because the session is relatively short compared to the durations of other types.

Deep peeling:

This method is the most abrasive. It removes the epidermis and part of the dermis. It treats aging and sagging skin; a laser or phenol-based products are used.

The treatment takes place in several stages: Preparation of the skin, application of the product by the doctor, under anesthesia, application of occlusive dressing, removal of the dressing…. The procedure is long and delicate. The result is a rejuvenation of ten to fifteen years.
